I keep cycling down to depressed then severely depressed. Then, all of the sudden a flip switches and the next day I feel great but not hypomanic (I think). Does anyone else do this? I take Geodon and Seroquel. Looking to get my Lamical bumped up to 200.

Thats kind of how I do. When I go down, I get suicidaly depressed. But I also get angry and hateful towards everyone. Think thats why my doc diagnosed me as mixed. I do get hypomanic at times.

Hi, it's interesting that you are also on Lamotrigine. As I had a reaction to it before I'm increasing my dose very slowly, 12.5mg every 2 weeks, I'm at 137.5 mg and I'm cycling down for just a day or 2 and then I'm fine again for a week or more. Sometimes I feel a slight hypomania for a day or so but my moods definitely cycle down more than up these days, but only for short periods. I'd be very interested on your views on N-acetyl cysteine, I take a few supplements and I've read some good reports on it, although I haven't tried it yet.

I also take Geodon and Seroquel (but XR) with Lamictal (though I only need 100 mg). I also take Tegretol XR (a large dose). I'm the opposite to what you describe. I'm almost always cycling up (or manic/hypomanic w/mixed features) and then back to baseline. I haven't been depressed for a little over a year (6 weeks situational) and that was my first significant depression in 6 years other than some occasional very low grade dysphoria. I've reached full manic elated at least once per year for most years, especially when my pdoc tries to lower my antipsychotics.

I hope the extra Lamictal will help you. It's very activating for me. Why do you take 2 antipsychotics? I only do because I get manic or hypomanic (or mixed) so often. Geodon and Seroquel are sedating meds. I take 160 mg of Geodon and 400 mg of Seroquel XR.

I have bipolar type I.

Current medications as of 10-06-2015
03-22-2011 - Present: Carbamazepine ER, 1400 mg. 600 mg in morning, 800 mg at night
03-22-2011 - Present: Klonopin, .5 mg. at night
03-22-2011 - Present: Propranolol (Inderal), 40mg. 20 mg twice per day
04-27-2011 - Present: Ativan, 1 mg+. prn
05-10-2011 - Present: Lamictal (Lamotrigine), 100 mg. In the morning
03-02-2012 - Present: Geodon (ziprasidone), 160 mg. 80 mg morning/80 mg after dinner
06-11-2012 - Present: Seroquel XR, 400 mg. 400 mg at night
04-16-2013 - Present: Levothyroxine, 150 mcg. Early morning

Ugh so I got so down I had to go to the ER and stayed inpatient for 4 days. Just got put on Tegetrol, lamictal upped, Seroquel discontinued, and Geodon increased! I was taking the Seroquel for sleep only.

What are your views on Tegetrol? I just started it and am hoping it stops the cycling. Is it for depression or more of a mood stabilizer?

N-acetyl-Cysteine boosts my mood. My old pdoc says it amplifies an antidepressant. I ran out of it which contributed to me ending up in the ER.
