Hello everyone. I am having dental problems. Tooth cracked off. Tooth extracted. Then I look and see that the next one in line is going to give way most likely. Just by looking at it. I am feeling like seroquel, dry mouth may be the culprit for all these problems. I am just 49 and have quite a few teeth gone. Getting depressed and angry about the whole thing. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this matter? Would be glad if you wrote me back. ty : )

Hi Oliver! I keep water with me just about everywhere I go. If just plain water is to boring, try dressing it up with some lemon or orange slices. I've also heard of a thing called Biotine. It's supposed to work.

I tried Biotine and I couldn't work out what it was supposed to do. I used it and it was like a nice mouthwash but it didn't keep my mouth from being dry. Better off using a proper mouthwash like listerine that bombs the bacteria. I found chewing gum or sugar free sweets probably the best thing to keep saliva running around your mouth, far cheaper than biotine that has sat in my cupboard for months
Cheers

I have a lot of issues also. I blame it on lithium. I drink water all day long. I tried Biotene and frankly, thought it made it worse. My dentist said to bring this up at my next pdoc appointment and see if there is something more they can do.
I try to chew gum too because that helps when I remember it.

I have a dry mouth too, I try and set a minimum amount of water to drink a day usually 2L or so. When it gets really bad I try and suck on some sugar free hard candy.

I felt exactly as you do, with my mouth in horrible condition and no help in sight.

The solution turned out to be a well-recomended dentist in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.

I had three teeth that needed crowns and root canals because they had broken years after fillings. These teeth hurt, they were unsightly, caused bad breath and made it hard to eat.

For $440.00 USD per tooh, this dentist has made each of my teeth look original, with crowns and canals included.

As readers have probably figured out by now, it's cheaper to get dental attention overseas, with a vacation, than to get dental attention in the USA, without a vacation.

Unlike dentists in the US, who leave a visible metal line where the crown enters the gums, my dentist sculpts each tooth so that the porcelain of the crown is inserted below/within the gums, so that no steel part of the crown is visible above the gum line.

Once all of the crowns and canals were done, I decided to give myself a treat: I've had braces on my bottom teeth since January and my dentist says these teeth are now perfectly aligned. He's charged me $400.00 USD total for thé whole process of straightening my bottom teeth.

My dentist only accepts cash or insurance. I have no insurance here.

So, I pay for food, gas and whatever else I can on credit cards and use the cash I save to pay the dentist.

My dentist knows about my psychiatric issues and even took me to his house for lunch one day when I was at his office, depressed and sobbing.

I have come to look forward to seeing my dentist at least once monthly. He and his staff are mental health assets to me as friends and people to check in with.

I have ALL of their personal telephone numbers and can contact the via Whatsapp (free Android download for free voice chat, text, voice messages, photo sharing and online groups. Works in any country to keep in touch while you'really traveling, as long as you have wifi or other Internet access.)

I can get an appointment with my dentist tomorrow or Monday, if need be.

Oh you are so lucky Persistence.
Dental care in Australia is ridiculous even with health cover
I had a crown about 2 yrs ago and it cost $2500 for one tooth!!!
My teeth are in ok condition so I can't complain but jeeeshh dentists have got it carved out as a career.
I would have to go somewhere in the Asia pacific region overseas to find a dentist cheaper or find a dentist within our health fund. But because I live in rural/regional Australia I would have to travel km's to do that.

Oliver, ICU, I've read that dental care in Thailand is very good and relatively much less expensive.

I don't know about Australia, but one can travel from the US to the DR for $350.00 round trip, which is what dentists in the USA charge for ex-rays.

If there were a supermarket where a great apple cost 50 cents USD and a competing supermarket where an inferior apple cost ten times that much, I would be forced by logic and my financial reality to opt for the cheaper and better apple.

It might not be an over-generalization to say that ALL "1st World" countries are the wrong place to look for affordable dental care.
