I have BP but not tourettes and I get songs going around in my head all the time. Maybe because I have blue toothed songs in our car and some I really like and some just play in my head all the time. I don't go crazy, I kinda like it, makes me feel good. Not only that, I have a teenage daughter who sings almost non stop at home (and she can sing brilliantly) so her songs start going round and around in my head. Truly it is a musical circus in our house.

BP2 here; no tourettes.

Strange coincidence reading this, because just this morning I was remarking to myself how over the last few weeks I have woken up with songs stuck in my head.

It's usually a random song and most of the time only during my morning routine. It's been consistent enough for me to notice it. A couple of months ago I upped my Lamotrigine (Lamictal) from 100mg to 150mg.

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

How bout some songs from italian folk music. I f you have a computer you can play them from utube. Like Romance in Venice. Sometimes they show food with the video. I like relaxing on my bed and watching and listening.

It could be the kind of music and how you listen. Some of today's radio stations if you are limited by your device. Well they make no sense. And when they keep playing you can't stand it. Cause it leaves you with a lot of questions. Like "What the hell are they trying to say!" And "It makes no freaking sense" that will drive you bonkers. Trying to make sense out of nonsense.

Hi!

I dont have the tourettes part although experience bi polar - mostly depression and yes, song and instrumental "weavels" ramble in my head frequently. They seem to come and go. Being a music lover and loving to sing, I figure its better than some of the crap that cycles through my head and I go with it although after days of the same song, it can get odious. None the less Its inspiring me to take some piano lessons..maybe there is music inside wanting to come out. Sometimes I can imagine other instruments to add to the piano or song music and it becomes a growing orchestra.

I havent taken any lessons yet although when coming upon a piano and no one else is around, it is really cool to sit at it and mess around and make up stuff.

The music weavels have always been with me, medication or no medication, although are more present when mood swings are ramped.

Only BP
I prefer it when I hear the songs even though it's only 1 line of a song and I can't remember the rest of the song. It can be very frustrating but it's much better than the mumbling or unintelligible voices.

BP here, no tourettes. I also get music stuck in my head, it may be because I usually find myself always keeping music on no matter where or what I'm doing, so when I'm not listening, the music lingers. :) At least that's what I think!

Current medications as of 12-23-2016
06-15-2016 - Present: Gabapentin, 100mg. Twice per day
09-15-2016 - Present: Tegretol, 300mg. per day

BP2.
In my case, getting songs stuck in my head is one of the first signs of hypomania. I start to feel music more intesively as if I feel them physically in my body, and get euphoric. All sounds are so enjoyable, even natural sounds I hear around me; I find music in it. I enjoy these sounds and clips of music, it's like I have a party inside me.
My hypomania episodes are quite short (2...4 weeks), and once had Yann Tiersen's "Comptine d'Un Autre Été" playing constantly in my head. Literally, constantly. And it was beautiful.
It's difficult to fall asleep when such beautiful music is playing in my head, and I have thought - oh, I'd rather listen this beautiful music than sleep..
It helps me when I do some relaxing yoga (~30min) before going to sleep and mindfullness meditation and ~ 1h before going to sleep I listen only to ambient music or don't listen to music at all. No uplifting music before going to sleep.

I'm 'Bipolar Atypical' no Tourettes. A couple of trends in my life: I used to HAVE to listen to music to go to sleep a long time ago. But then I started reading instead. I've always gotten obsessed with a particular song or tune. I still remember the theme from Chariots of Fire and Amazing Grace on bagpipes when I was very young. It's also been the theme from Last of the Mohicans (who doesn't get obsessed with that!?) and the Brandenburg Concerto #2. Lately it's been more lyrical music.. and I get obsessed with learning the lyrics to particular songs. My diagnosis is fairly recent.. last August... so I haven't been able to correlate this to moods. I do know that my interest in music is inconsistent. When I'm depressed I simply don't like anything. One thing that has really stuck out over the last several months is that I get a repetitive tune (not sure where it came from) in my head that I hum over and over again when I'm getting a bit mixed (anxiety/hypomanic). That is a red flag for me. I work for myself and tend to get obsessed and heavily distracted by new project ideas at the expense of everything when I'm going manic/hypomanic. When I get like this I'm compelled beyond all reason.. but pissed at myself at the same time. This is when I hum that damned tune.

I not only get songs stuck in my head at night, I also translate them into Spanish. It's crazy, and sometimes it keeps me up and I can't sleep. I am bipolar 1, BPD, and more. I don't have Tourette's. It may be a bipolar thing, but I'm not sure. I just know it drives me crazy.
