On the chart, is the aim to have a flat line at baseline most of the time?
Been on meds for bipolar 2 the last 7 weeks.
Unmedicated all my life as just handled things.
But had a traumatic life stressor which triggered it all again badly and went into a terrible depression.
My mother committed suicide and I had to listen while they broke her door down from thousands of miles away a few months ago.

Was doing so well and handling things even after she died then bam suddenly delayed reaction?
Months after.

Sigh.
Anyway I have been feeling great on these meds and almost happy and suddenly the last 3 days so depressed again I can’t ever see a way out.
Is this normal on these meds?
Surely should have stabilised on a normal mood by now?

Medications for March 2, 2018 to April 1, 2018
02-22-2018 - Present:Citalopram , 20mg. Once a day
02-06-2018 - Present:Lamotrigine , 100mg. Once a day

Very sorry about your mother. That must have been pretty traumatic, so much so that you could be susceptible to sudden bouts of mood changes.

You have not been on meds very long, and antidepressants typically take weeks to take effect. The dose of lamotrigine you are on is relatively low. It just doesn’t look like your mood is very stable. So talk to your doc about how you are feeling, there are a lot of different treatment options. Not everyone is so lucky as to be on the same med for years without requiring a change along the way. Are you seeing a primary care physician for your meds? If you are, I highly recommend seeing a psychiatrist instead. They can take time to get in with, but they are much more qualified to treat bipolar than a pcp.

I agree having a blow like that can definitely hit you on a delay. It happened with me when my aunt died suddenly and I had to do cpr on her. I think my brain just shut it out and I’m just now starting to feel bits of it a year and a half later.

A psychiatrist is the way to go, if nothing else they will have a new perspective on things
