Many people have a difficult time during the holidays, especially those of us who do not have any or many friends or who do not live near their family.

I just want you to know that you are never alone when you are a part of this forum. We can all use a mental boost now and again but because this particular time of year is so focused on family and friends we often feel isolated, alone, unloved.

I have only my husband and our geriatric dog ~ ALL my family is 8 or more hours away. We have no friends. Sometimes I get depressed and feel so hopeless and have no one to talk to. It's nice to be able to reach out and connect with people that understand how devastating it can be to feel lonely during the holidays

Soooooooooooooooooooooo . . . the point of this post is just to say, DO NOT let this holiday season affect your mental stability. If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed, lonely, or whatever it is that is adversely affecting your mental state, please reach out on this forum and talk to others who may be feeling just like you. NO ONE should be so isolated that they cannot reach out for a reassuring conversation and a much needed human connection.

I wish you all peace and mental stability

I like your post. I believe that all of us on this planet are brothers and sisters. We have a purpose to be here. I am sad that your family lives so far away:( This time of year can be fun though. We might be able to get out of our shell to say hi to a neighbor because you are all suffering in the same weather or are wishing someone a happy time to be away from work for a day. I also enjoy ending a conversation with people on the phone who have been helping me or someone and the check out counter at the grocery store) and wish them a happy Thanksgiving or the other two holidays when it is quite early to say Happy Thanksgiving. It throws them off guard. And they are happy about it.

Thank you for your response, janellehale4. I strongly agree with your perspective on being human ~ yup, brothers/sisters is what we are, if only more people could understand that.

Don't be sad for me, please, I have good days and bad. Living here is closer to my family than it was 2 years ago so, starting in April, I was able to visit my Mom once a month (before the cold and snow hit). it's a long drive but Mom is 89 years old so any time I have with her is a treasure.

So yesterday my sister's husband invited us to their place for thanksgiving ~ it's a 12 hour drive but we are going to make that drive to Florida for the holiday (I'm tired already LOL)

You sound like a very nice person, very caring. My hubby and I make a point of talking to all the people that work at our grocery store, we read their name tags and always use their names when we talk to them. Everyone wants to be acknowledged as an individual, not just someone behind a counter. LOL, if I go to the store without my hubby they always ask where my other half is ~ we love seeing their friendly faces each week

This world needs more people who can simply smile and say hello . . . kindness never goes out of style

Here's to being an ambassador of kindness ~ Oh Happy Day!
