Please help!!!!! I'm new to this

Hello all. I've been on one form or another of an antidepressant or years. Had a health issue with pituitary and endo stuff that eventually landed me to a psych. She pulled me off cymbalta 60 abruptly 10 days ago because of insomnia. Now insomnia better and she just put me on lithium and lamictal. I didn't see that coming. I thought I'd be back on some Sri or srni. I'm just freaked out and afraid of what I don't know. I think she's trying to stable my mood because I'm crying allot. Can anyone ease my neurotic mind please. Who's having awesome responses to either of these meds. Any help would be so appreciated. Best regards, jnl

I swore by Lamictal for a long time! It made my depression only mild, and i think the episodes were shorter. I think its great, though expensive. Im also on lithium but not sure im on a high enough dose to really comment.

I was on Lamictal for quite awhile. I did not have many side effects, but I did absolutely nothing for my depression. I am on Lithium 900 mg at night (as well as Lunesta 3 mg) for insomnia. The Lithium is mainly because my psychiatrist read several studies that showed it improved overall outcomes in patients with depression. It is mainly the Lunesta that helps my insomnia. The only thing I noticed with the Lithium is that it does make me more thirsty, so I try to take it with a good amount of water. Hope that helps! I know this is hard to hear right now, but things will get better. Unfortunately, it often takes a lot of patience and some trial and error, since everyone responds differently to meds. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you continue this journey.
