I am FINALLY on lamotrigine, since a week now.

I've been researching this drug a LOT and i know 3 people who are or have been taking it and its working for them.

Whilst it supposedly only moderately calms the hypomania but deals more with depression - that's fine by me - its the depression i dont want! Of course I'm hopeful too that it stops me going too high!

My initial pdoc put me on Lexapro antidepressants as monotreatment and that backfired and got me in even worse states although it did help me sleep and took my anxiety away, my mood swings magnified!

Then my pdoc insisted on Valproate rather than Lamotrigine - this had my ears ringing all day, gave me very vivid dreams - mostly not nice ones either. Mood swings remained and even worsened. I could feel this was not right in any way for me.

So finally I've fired this pdoc and gone to a new one wh actually listened to me and agreed!
I am adamant I'm on the right track now - solely on lamotrigine - its early days yet but i feel real good about it and this last week has been real stable for me already. Could be the placebo effect...

Anyhow, fingers crossed.

Good luck everybody, we're in this together, all our shares are invaluable :) peace.
