I suffered from terrible insomnia after beginning to take Abilify. It lasted for about 3 weeks. I couldn't sleep for more than a few hours per day.
I did not want to take trazodone, offered as a solution by my psychiatrist.
I discovered that many people unknowingly suffer from a magnesium deficiency, that can contribute to sleeping problems.
I have slept very soundly ever since beginning to routinely take magnesium and calcium supplements.
In order to ensure a safe dosage, I take magnesium malate- which has exactly 1/3 of the daily value at night, a few hours before bedtime. I also take 1 calcium citrate, 3 times per week.
