There are two different kinds of sleeping tablets. One which help you fall asleep and others which keep you asleep. Like you, I can doze off when (when I'm depressed) relatively easily, but cannot stay asleep. But I am awake before I get the 'delta' sleep I need, which is the type of sleep that heals and recharges the brain. My sugesstion to you would be to seek the advice of a Dr to get some help with sleeping tablets. Just to get started off, then look at your sleep hygiene, other stresses in your life, etc. If you carry on like this you'll become increasingly more unwell, driving will become a hazard, concentration will dip very badly.

It may just be a cycle that you need help getting through, but I would definitely speak with a Dr and get appropriate meds. Clonzapam is one of the meds that can help you get to sleep, but not stay asleep.

All the best

I have the same issue as you. I don't really have any answers, just sympathizing. My pdoc prescribed Seroquel, which is supposed to help with sleep, but I still wake up at least twice a night. I just started it two weeks ago so I'm probably not on the right dose yet. I know other people have posted here that Seroquel knocks them out though.

thanks for reply.

i was on seroquel too, it made me swell like a balloon, literally so had get off of it. it would knock me out, but then i would still wake up. I guess I wake up at least every 4 hours. it is affecting my driving, or else the new meds are. I am not sure, I just switched drs. because after 6 months and not getting better, i just have no faith in my dr. anymore, the new place seems so much better, although i haven't seen the dr. yet, i have met the therapist, she is wonderful, so much better than the one i had. so i hope things get better soon, as i may start working soon, and can't be this off key for training. i think this med even works bad with my eyes, i cant even read a book. typing this is hard. im on now geodon 80 mg/day, xanax .5x4, dapakote 500 mgx 2. sorry chart is not up to date. i just came out of a mania a week ago, back into depression, trying not to sink into it, yesterday i did :( well got things to do today, so pray i can find the energy and motivation to get things done, cause my depression and lack of energy is about to get me into trouble with my husband A( he cant find his socks and underwear). i need to clean somet hings out. so , thanks for the support. bye, carla.
