Hi,

I am diagnosed with Bipolar II and have noticed for a long time now that the week before my period and during the first few days of my menstrual cycle, I am extremely irritable, angry, hostile, and self-destructive. I have hear on TV about new forms of birth control that you take back to back for 3 months and then have a period. Has anyone tried this? I am wodering if since I get so bad every time I have a period if it would be a good thing to talk to my doctor about this new type of BC. If anyone does use this method, have you noticed that once you finally do get a period, your mood instability is worse than with monthly cycles or is it about the same. Only having to deal with these awful changes in my mood 4 times a year sounds a lot better than 12 times! I just wonder about how healthy it is to do. Thanks for any info!!

Hi Laura,
My doctor and I were talking about birth control and she said that I could skip my week of no-pills and move onto the next package. She said as long as I had my period every three months, then it is safe.
It is healthy to do and keeps your risk of uterine cancer low and as long the birth control doesn't lower your mood, then I would go for it!!
