So after weeks of planning and preparation the day finally arrived - Hubby's 40th Birthday Party. I worked my feet off and cooked and baked 'all day. But it was all worth it because the party was a great success. I managed to take care of everything myself from the food, to the decorating, music and right up to the finer details. I admit that I even surprised myself. I couldnt believe I managed it all on my own as were most of the guests. It wasnt a big affair - only 30 odd people - but it was a real achievement after not having done anything like this since breakdown two years ago. Must admit though the next day I was totally exhausted and I stayed in bed all day. Couldnt move a limb or keep my eyes open. It was as though I have fallen into some sort of comatose state. Fortunately that only lasted a day and today I was up and about getting on with stuff. Despite the great success I dont think I will be taking on a project like this in a hurry again. I say that but I just remembered my daughter's birthday is two months away and I have promised to do something special for her. Oh well, I guess two months is long enough to recover from this episode of overextending my abilities. I'll need all the rest I can get!

Congrats BettyBee. That's what I call a success story !

I'm not a square-peg person trying to fit into a round-hole world ~ I'm a triangle!

Peace and stability be with you.

Thank you for sharing your success story. I don't know about the rest of the people here but I never had a single doubt. I'm so happy for you.

i am happy for you and your family, BettyBee! now that you are apparently thinking about ANOTHER BD party in 2 months, maybe you can do something to help you in advance for the next big day. for example - safe those BD decorations to use for your daughter's BD. have the table clothes, napkins, and such clean, folded and ready for the next time. if there are any dishes that you can prepare just a couple of days before and keep frozen, do it. this way you don't have to do all at once the day before the party. oh, and you can write the invitations anytime you can, and just save them to be send just a couple of weeks before the party.
and if your daughter can have a store-bought BD cake, why bake one? Unless you like making cakes from scratch...
