Patient Prescription Drug Assistance Programs

Free or low-cost medications provided by pharmaceutical companies

Some pharmaceutical companies offer medication assistance programs to low-income individuals and families. These programs typically require a doctor’s consent and proof of financial status. They may also require that you have either no health insurance, or no prescription drug benefit through your health insurance. Please contact the pharmaceutical company directly for specific eligibility requirements and application information.

Note: Some of these companies may prefer to speak directly with your doctor.

Thanks UpClimber,

Does your username refer to (rock) climbing? I have hippie friends back in Ca that were so into it that they found their OWN way ('routes' I guess) up big rocks. They told me to watch out for the brown paper bags near the bottom! After falling a couple times & breaking bones they mostly go to climbing gyms now...a lot of beaches in Nor Cal have bouldering that's accessible, safe & varying degrees of difficulty. I wonder if climbing is going to pass up yoga as the most trendy fitness activity.

Anyway, thank you SO much for such a helpful post. Before I got medicaid I used RxAssist & went directly through AstraZeneca to get my Seroquel which I found out costs BANK. I'm sure Vyvanse isn't cheap either. I'm lucky that I'm a student & qualified for medicaid...I pay $3bucs for my meds & MD visits. If & when I get a job, which will be very soon, I will still need medicaid b/c I think my meds would be well over $1200 per month. Utah isn't like Ca as far as wages go.

I've also been lucky to have health care folks advocating for my 'getting well'. BUT what will happen when I'm deemed "well"? Probably in less than a year...at my age (44) I can't afford another (full blown) episode of either mania OR depression.

Being type 1 bipolar, or for me I should say, the mania seems to cause more trouble. Generally I'm not suicidal BUT when simultaneously manic & depressed I'll put myself in harms way for lack of caring & that's the worst state I can be in. A depressive episode is what caused my family & loved 1's to intervene. Never had one like it before - in 2 or 3months I managed to isolate myself from absolutely everyone & everything. Didn't care about anything, not even sex, drugs & rock'n'roll, just sleeping as much as possible - no purpose, no goals. I thought the only good thing about my existence was that I'm a registered organ donor.

You're so welcome Kumbaya! I love your username. My name doesn't refer to rock climbing, but I guess it could. (Here's something that's a trip. When I was younger I actually went rock climbing in the Uintas! :-)

I have general anxiety disorder and major depression. I've fallen into many holes like the one you described with the isolating and all the stuff that goes with it. I went with UpClimber because as I work on my recovery from depression I feel like I'm climbing up out of the hole and hopefully climbing up to better things in my life. Sometimes it's 3 steps down, and 2 steps up. It's real work.

Regards,
L
