Hello,
Can anyone shed some light on this please. I have been diagnosed BP 2 for a number of years, now taking lithium 200mg and zoloft 200mg.
Although the meds have levelled my mood well I still suffer incredibly with feeling anxious around situations where I feel I am letting people down or dealing with confrontation. I go tight for a few days and get a shoulder twitch although minor. I hate responsibility for fear of making a mistake and often suffer mind blanks when faced with confrontation. I am the mind of guy that would rather please everyone on both sides of the fence rather than face the discomfort of explaining why. I would rather be laughed at and be accepted than stand up and be counted for my views.

Is this anxiety? I have no idea what it should feel like?

Thanks
R

No. I just want to understand what it feels like before discussing. What does it feel like to you.
I describe it as trapped energy on my body.

anxiety and maybe depersonalization disorder (disscociative disorder). I read up on that and it described me. I never knew there was a name to it. It happens when I am anxious/stressed.

I was in therapy and cognitive therapy helped me a lot with my anxiety. My son was in other type of therapy last year (DBS??). Similar to cognitive therapy and it helped him a lot too with his anxiety.

Good luck to you. Keep us updated. This is a friendly, helpful, non-judgemental group. The BP board tends to get more traffic but it can still be quiet at times. Don't let that put you off.

I find with anxiety that I avoid situations that will put me in the uncomfortable consequences of anxious symptoms I.e will avoid giving my opinion when the other person is more vocal as I am worried about having to be questioned about my reasons or even worse criticised.

Then you seem to use avoiding things to protect yourself from the symptoms of anxiety.

Hope this helps.

I get anxious for a variety of reasons, and sometimes for non at all.
The feelings that I get are a racing heart, tight chest, unable to focus. I feel sweaty or like I just drank too much caffeine.
At its worse it makes me irritable, short tempered and fixated on whatever it is that is making me anxious. My mind races with thoughts usually negative and like I said I cannot focus, its like tunnel vision. It is also almost impossible for me to take a deep breath.

I hope this helps?

It's an anxiety, I think.
