I'm a 45 year old male, diagnosed with Bipolar 10 years ago after being treated for depression for 15 years. I was diagnosed with BPD 2.5 years ago.

I'm struggling badly although my meds help. I'm also seeing a good psychologist and we're going to start CBT again which I hope will help.

Does anyone else with this diagnosis feel they're fighting a losing battle?

Just to warn you, the forum can be a bit slow (I find the forums at Crazymeds to be a little busier). I don't post there but I have been there to read up on my meds and see how others are doing with them.
I do not have BPD but noticed my dr had written in my medical records that I have BPD "tendencies". I do have Depersonalization Disorder. I have done CBT before and it did help me...a lot actually. It took time though and my therapist at the time told me I was resistant to it (stubborn I guess lol). It did eventually work though. It did a lot for my anxiety. The CBT is something that helped me and hasn't gone away. So, as you can see, I am a big supporter of it. I hope it will help you too.

I often wonder if this is as good as it gets.

Current medications as of 08-01-2014

11-15-2012 - Present: lithium, 600mg. twice a day

“Verily, with hardship there is relief.” (94:6)

“Peace be upon you, because you peresevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!” (13:24)

“O’ you who believe! Seek help in patience and the Prayer.” (2:153)

Thanks for the replies guys, I can certainly relate to what you're saying JustmeJ about wondering if this is as good as it gets. I hope the CBT helps me too.

Thanks too dressed, it's a battle for me everyday too.

Best wishes to you both.

Hi, i'm new to the site, and I can relate to your bipolar and BPD diagnosis.
I was diagnosed Bipolar II when I was fifteen, Borderline when I was nineteen.
I'm glad that you are being proactive and satiating your needs with seeing a therapist.

For BPD, have you ever heard of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy?
It is the number one best therapy for BPD patients. Hard to find, but in mass testimony, very effective.

Greatest of luck on your journey!
You are not alone. :)
