Is the length and severeness of mood episodes supposed to wary? Like, if I have definitely experienced very severe, suicidal depression at certain points of my life, have some instances of moderate to severe depression now and then and usually cycle between normal, hypo (?) and light to moderate depression.

Hi mils.

My therapist finally said the word cyclothymic in our last session. I copied out all the data from this site and took it to our session. I've been keeping track of my moods and I actually printed each graph out from every month and stapled them end to end. What I found was very bleak. I have about one month normal and then one to one and a half bad. I was very upset about it but it explains sop much. I don't know how long you've been using the site but it will be very valuable in helping you predict and analyze cycles. Until you have about a years data (since I don't know how long you've used mootracker.com I can't answer further than that. Good luck.

mlis we're not doctors. I'd like to say that usually is the severity. Some people can go a long time with out having full blown episodes. Sometimes triggers can cause little episodes that only last a few days, or week and vary in severity.

The only thing I can tell you as a definite is that everyone is different. Even in a single person no two reactions to the same thing will happen. In some cases it the chemicals in our brains that cause the episodes and the length and severity. To be honest I don't always know if I'm gonna be up down or neither. Basically I'm living on managing what happens. Seeing the signs of things that come and trying to brace for when they do. That seems to be the main goal of this site is to help you learn you and what happens when triggers occur and help keep your mood on your mind and watching it carefully. Just filling out the mood chart has done incredible things for me.
