I was misdiagnosed for the longest time with bipolar- extremely frustrating.
After spending 5 minutes with me, a healthcare professional, I don’t think was even even a doctor, put that diagnosis on my record and I never saw them again.
I went to all the support groups but could never relate to people dealing with bipolar, and this was very difficult because I very much wanted to be compliant and ease my symptoms.
I have always believed myself to be ADD and found out that some of the symptoms are much the same.
Finally - got my proper diagnosis ,(after years of hoping to be properly diagnosed ), and being mis-medicated as a result of the improper diagnosis of bipolar and having horrible effects from all those meds.
The ADHD/ADD i’ve been diagnosed with is a dual diagnosis with dysthymia depression and mood disorders. One thing I did notice however, in my interaction with other people, was if they were unhealthy in any way, which a lot of people are these days, when they did something wrong .., and I was upset or complained about it anyway....,it was always blamed on my (misdiagnosed),bipolar disorder...., and that I was the problem.
I’m a very very patient person and I do home health care, work with animals, and am a natural caregiver. People tell me I have infinite patience that they would never have. So even me getting upset slightly at someone behaving badly, wasn’t that bad, but I did notice people were always blaming it on me having bipolar when I called out hurtful or bad behavior.
This was very upsetting because I noticed my bipolar Diagnosis was a scapegoat. This was my experience and was absolutely frustrating and horrible. In any event....., I’m hoping to find someone else here that might deal with ADD or ADHD and depression, and for those who are properly diagnosed with bipolar...., if you’ve experienced other people acting badly and blaming it on that, or you, I’m truly sorry, It’s seemed to be a bad habit for people with me and was very discouraging and beyond frustrating.
Thank you for reading my post.
