I recently spoke with a friend of mine who eats at least 2 pounds of vegetables a day. She eats whole food, plant based foods. This diet is loosely based on "The China Study" book way of eating. She eats one pound of vegetables first as this helps her get the fiber she needs and helps her get full. To finish her breakfast she eats grain and fruit until she is full. For lunch she eats a bag of vegetables first (peppers, cucumbers, carrots, etc.) To round off her lunch she eats fruit, tortilla wrap, or something that is more what we think of as a "meal". For dinner she eats a pound of vegetables first. Then she has a main course, fruit, etc. She bases her intake of meals on how full she feels.

I have been eating 2 pounds of vegetables a day for 4 days. For 2 months before this I have been eating 20 ounces of vegetables a day. I believe my body had a reaction to the extra vegetables - a vaginal yeast infection. One night urinating was painful. I also had general vaginal discomfort. I woke in the morning and - no pain urinating! Since then I am not going to eat any form of sugar, including fruits for a few days to help the balance of yeast be restored.

So I have been eating non starchy vegetables for breakfast. (one pound) then a second breakfast of starchy vegetables, fruit, legumes, or grain. Before dinner I eat a pound of non starchy vegetables. Then I have a dinner made from non starchy vegetables, fruit, legumes, or grain. I love this eating. I get to eat so much. I read Chef AJ's book "Ultimate Weight Loss". She recommends this way of eating. She has 4 recipes that are composed of non starchy vegetables. They are SO good.

I eat whatever I want and log it on MFP or Lose It. It's helped me. That and plentiful exercise.

I always believe in a balanced diet, I eat my veggies as well as proteins. I don't believe in starving oneself, I just exercise

As they say too much is bad. So I guess you have to maintain a balance diet too. You do not have to deprive yourself but at least just put limitations.
