I recently saw a news story about the connection between Seroquel causing diabetes type II. This concerns me because I have been using Seroquel for several years. I am also overweight, and my father had adult onset type II diabetes, so I'm already predisposed to it. If anyone has more info about this connection I'd be happy to hear it. I mentioned it to my Dr. but she didn't seem too concerned about it. Thanks.

I haven't heard anything about diabetes and SEROQUEL, but I do know from first hand experience that ABILIFY almost put me into a diabetic coma (I don't have diabetes). I went to the hospital, because my face and toungue was swollen. When they drew my blood, the results came back that I should have been in a coma.

Once the medicine was out of my system, everything went back to normal.

About Seroquel, have you tried going to their website or WEBMD?

I was taking a mere 25mg Seroquel as a sleep aid. It triggred INSANE binging that became progressively more frequent and severe. A pdoc told me that Seroquel can cause "insulin issues" in some people. He then prescribed me Abilify. When I researched it, I was quite appalled that it is known to cause diabeties! I quickly discontinued it.
