I assume you haven't received any responses on this because the med is so new that most don't even know it exists.

I had so many terrible side effects with this medication- more so than any other med I've ever tried. I don't typically experience multiple side effects of medication.

Here's my experience: My doctor wanted me to try Vraylar because its' molecular structure is similar to Abilify- and it's supposed to have less side effects. I have BP II and have never been on an anti-psychotic before.
I was on the 1 mg for a month and felt fine. Then she increased my dose to 3 mg and I started to get akathisia really bad. It was very uncomfortable. I also developed insomnia (couldn't fall into a deep sleep- felt like I was just resting my eyes when I slept.) If I did manage to fall sleep at night, it would only be for an hour or so and then I would wake up and not be able to return to sleep. Another side effect I experienced was moderate shortness of breath. I am a healthy 28 year woman and it was scary not ever being able to get a full, deep breath. It made my mood worse also. I remember sitting in my home feeling like it wasn't even mine- everything felt dark around me and I felt like the world was closing in on me.

All in all, this medication was a nightmare and I quit taking it. It was the worst experience I've ever had with medication. Now that I have been off of it for about a month I feel a lot better. If you do choose to take it, I hope it works better for you than it did me. :)

I've been taking the Vraylar for two weeks and it feels like I've woken up from a nightmare. I haven't felt this good in years. I have BP1 and have tried almost all of the atypical antipsychotic med. I have read reviews from people taking Vraylar and either they are glowing or horrible. I am worried about increasing the dosage. Things are going so well right now I don't really want to rock the boat!

I'm so glad to hear that it is working well for you! It seems to be life changing for some people which is great. I'd talk to your doctor and see if you can stay on the dosage you are on as long as you are feeling the positive effects of it. :)
