Hey!

Have you experienced hypersomnia between your episodes, when you should be more or less "normal"?
I have this every now and then, and as this sleepiness is impossible to fight with (coffeine doesn't work...), then I just sleep. I wake up tired, I get to work and drink 2-3 cups of strong coffee in a row, try to be productive, do what I have to do (and I actually manage to do everything I have to do at work) while being sleepy and groggy, then go home & fall asleep. Usually I wake up at around 9 or 10 pm, eat something, take a shower and go back to sleep. And that's basically all I do.
This lasts for few days or nearly a week, and then I get my energy back. I don't think it is because of medications, because i've been taking the same doses for almost a year now.
I don't know what triggers it. And I don't know if it has some predictive value. I read articles about hypersomnia in BP, and most of these say that it can predict hypomanic or depressive episode. I do feel a bit blue, because work duties are all I am able to do; a painting is waiting to be finished, rooms need cleaning, cats want to play, I need to go shopping, practice guitar, I want to meet my friends etc...but I'm just too sleepy to do it and feel a bit isolated. But I'm not depressed.

Has anyone tried light therapy (I live in a northern country and it's quite dark here in winter...)?

Yes I have experienced this and like you it can stay for a few days to a week, if it goes longer than that I either try cutting back on the meds that I know make me sleepy if that doesn't help I make an appt with my Doc so that things don't start on the slippery slope up or down

I have considered getting a light box bc I usually get a terrible miday slump and I'm falling asleep in my chair, not good. I think I'll take a new look at them!

Yes, I’ve been sleepy for about five years. Turns out I have sleep apnea—I was just diagnosed. I am in the process of getting a cpap. I am wondering if I will need such a high dose of Adderall once I am treated. Anyway, it’s something to consider.
