I have been a total mess since last December. I am a mental mess. Some days I am completely fine, even extremely confident, but then some days I am the most depressed and suicidal person and I seriously need help, it's killing me. I've wanted to kill me 3 or more times within this week. Last year i was cleaning none stop for like two weeks then a few weeks passed and i couldnt do anything, i had no energy to even get up. I have most of the traits of having bipolar for example, i can go a week or two feeling really high, confident, i even walk infront of cars knowing ill make it i havent almost made it a few times, i don't really sleep either and then after that i have lost myself i am severely depressed, to the point where i am numb and i dont know what to do anymore, i need help please. its ruining my relationsip with my partner.

Hi Shaunalee,

I really encourage you to seek help, if not from a psychiatrist or “pdoc,” a primary care physician that can refer you to one and perhaps get you in faster. Pdocs can be hard to schedule with if you don’t live in a large community. That said, if you feel suicidal, then go to an ER IMMEDIATELY! They can help you see someone right away (relatively speaking).

Please don’t rely on forums or Google to help diagnose yourself. There is no way one can really do this for themselves or others. Psychiatry is not only a science, but an art. It can take a long time before one gets diagnosed as bipolar because it is not a cut and dried diagnosis. Neither is a personality disorder. Please keep in mind for that when you see a pdoc, you will get some sort of label that relates to a diagnostic code. That is for insurance and billing purposes, and it can change as they get to know you.

Please get some help from a professional. And don’t rely on only a primary care physician—make sure you see an actual pdoc or in a pinch, a psychiatric nurse.

I just remembered there are such things as virtual visits. They are very reasonably priced (about $70) and you can see a mental health professional right away. Try the app “Dr on Demand” as it has a good reputation and is actually recommended by my health insurance, United Healthcare. The low price is really a bonus.

Take care and (((hugs)))
