Hi all,
Just a quick post to see if anyone has taken Lithium for Cyclothymia with relitive success.
After 18 months of Fluoxetine I have found that (although I don't notice it myself) the rumours are true and you do get increased hypomania with Fluoxetine.
It also fails to curb my depression like it did at first so I have agreed to try a low dose of lithium. Hope it is successful.
Please let me know if it worked for you and how long it took to work, etc.

Thanks

Hi,

I have been using Lithium for 7.5 months now. I stopped once for about 4 weeks. But then I became very restless, scared and lots of moodswings. It made me realise how it was before Lithium. Now I am back on Lithium (wich is my only medication, and wich is also the first medicine of choice, in case of mooddisorders here in The Netherlands).
The last 2.5 months my dosis is increased, and that seems to be the trick, as far as I can tell now. Moodswings are still there, but not as severe as before.
But it is still to early to tell. It does feel strange now, I miss my swings. It is not like you are totally flat in your moods, you still feel everything.
Side-effects are not to bad. Again, I don't know yet wether my sometimes severe depressive mood will come back again.
Hope this is somewhat helpfull. (sorry for my grammer...)
