Since I was diagnosed with bipolar, I've gained about 90 pounds. I feel like a bloated pig.

I am always looking for a new diet. Jenny Craig didn't work. Weight watchers didn't worked. Atkins didn't work. Seems I've tried them all. I was traveling and saw an ad for a diet in an airline magazine. It is called 20/20 Lifestyles. It sounded promising, so I don't loaded the free app. In two weeks I have lost 8 pounds. The app has various educational videos that are quite informative. Life-changing really. Stuff that your doctors will never tell you.

The diet was developed by a cardiologist and is the result of 20 years of research. There's an actual clinic in Seattle, but I live in Wisconsin. So I will have to use the app to do the diet from afar. You could find the app by googling "20/20 lifestyles app". Searching for in the App Store does not seem to work. There is an Android version too. Once you download it, there are several free videos. Watch them. Even if you don't do the diet that information is really valuable. It helps you realize that we are in an uphill battle, but that there is a solution. There is hope.

Still losing. Down 18 pounds so far. I am now not even wanting to eat much and have a hard time eating 1200 calories. I think it is the lack of dairy, grains and refined sugar my diet. I just don't crave food anymore. I even forget to eat sometimes. I need to step up the exercise. I don't want to become too flabby.

That is what I need to do. Ive gained 15lbs since moving to my Aunts house. Love her but she cooks carbs at every meal and butter in everything. She's a good Southerner, lol.

It doesn't help that I don't really exercise. I just ordered some stretching and yoga cards from a company called Fitdeck, I got some other more active cards to help burn those calories. Also we have a treadmill stepper thingy.

Maybe I should start cooking stuff myself. I almost have to be ninja sneaky to cook my own food in this house. lol I love fruiting veg though, just got to eat it instead of crap.

Enough from me. YOU are doing super awesome 18lbs is great! Keep doing what you are doing!

Hi! also being from WI i am surrounded by the Midwest food. yummy but terrible for you. I am a vegetarian as well. Will this work for vegetarians? Do you find the diet isolating at all?

That is amazing weight loss! congratulations!

Thanks a Blue and Waterbug! I am happy to report I am now down to 201 pounds from a starting weight of 222. That is on top of a girls weekend in Chicago. I took protein shakes, nuts and oranges for breakfast, the one meal I could control. It was satisfying. I drank coffee at breakfast while my friends ate. No problem with food envy. I ate mainly salads and lunch at dinner with protein bars in between. We even ate at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner one night and for a treat I had a big bowl of strawberries with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream for dessert! I had minimal to no food envy the entire time, and do not feel isolated by this way of eating.

Yes Waterbug, this diet is good for vegetarians too. (I understand the Midwestern food thing!). It may be a bit harder to eat out, but protein bars could help in that regard. I don't buy all the 20/20 lifestyles bars/shakes. It can be less expensive to buy similar ones at a local store.

I am going to try hemp powder as a protein rather than the whey I normally use. I haven't tried egg or soy protein, I suppose that is a good vegetarian choice too.

You can download all the diet info you need for free for the first stages of the diet from the 20/20 Lifestyles app or better yet, website. Watch the amazing videos.

Good luck Blue at being a Ninja! You need to do this for yourself. We with bipolar are prone to metabolic syndrome, diabetes and heart disease.

This diet sounds pretty cool. I am already dieting. I'm on MFP. But I really like the one ur doing, too. It's pretty neat what they're all coming out with, as far as dieting goes.

I have a quick dumb question, though.

If I check out this stuff, would it fit in with my dieting with MFP? Just curious. It would be great if I could.

You wouldn't need the pills if you follow the diet. Plus, diet pills are truly only a temporary fix. Did you know that dieting is the easy part, but keeping it off is the biggest challenge? Diet programs, even Weight watchers, Jenny Craig, and Nutrisystem all have less than a 5% success rate of keeping the weight off after two years of completion. I have done both WW and Jenny Craig more than once and know this to be true for me. The 20/20 Lifestyles diet has a 48% success rate. The odds are against us no matter what but I think you learn to eat so differently on the 20/20 diet that success in the long run is very possible. On the diet I no longer crave food and that is a small miracle! Be sure to look up 20/20 Lifestyles and not the 2020 diet by Dr. Phil.

By the way, I am down to 199 pounds and I'm no longer considered obese for my height. Yay!

Artista,

Thank you for continuously updating us on your weight loss. You and I have the same issues, but we do it in different ways. For me weight watchers is working. In the last year I have lost about 70 pounds. For a gal that is 5-1, 335 pounds was an astronomical pain in the ass (and all over!). I want to say that I am proud of you for being persistent enough to find what works best for you and that you are working hard on it. That is an amazing thing to do. I also noticed some of your medication. A few of them have side effects of weight gain. I was on some of the same ones and that was my side effect as well. When you experience a wall that you just can't get past, change up your exercise routine. I have found that to be really helpful. Your body becomes used to the same routine over time and does not respond as well to the routing any longer. If you would like a personal cheerleader, you can look me up on facebook! I am on the same journey and I think we can learn from each other! Congrats on your accomplishments! Well Done!

Hi Dawn,

Good for you--I am so glad WW works for you as it is a good and sensible plan for most people. I think I am just too sugar sensitive than most people and those 2 point snacks (both sweet and savory) and too many fruits send me reeling into a blood sugar rollar coaster and cravings. I will look you up! Thanks for the advice.

Artista,

Thank you for responding! My weight watchers program had to be altered a little bit because I have type 2 Diabetes. And they changed their point system, so I am still getting used to that. Its a lot different than before. Things that used to be 4 points are now sometimes up to 9 points. It is all very confusing. You can always email me at sassy3ddawn@yahoo.com
