I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm not usually the best speaker. I usually tend to stutter a lot when I get nervous or when I'm tired.

After being on Depakote for a month I almost don't want to open my mouth. My stuttering is horrible. I also do all sorts of sound substitutions.
I never had any speech problems as a child. Anyone experience this?

yea i used to stutter when i first started with Abilfy and have always been an eloquent speaker before.

What helpped me is trying to organize my thoughts in my head first before speaking.

It seems normal to stutter under those occasions even if u never had the problem b4. talk to the doctor .. they should be able to help u

Although I don't stutter I do stammer occasionally.
I'm not sure if my meds are doing it or not but it happens when my mind is working alot faster than my tongue can keep up with.

This is an entry. It enters but is not a tree ;)

I'm not having that type of problem, but I know as a general rule of life I have to organize my thoughts as much as I possibly can before I speak. My mind is still racing a bit and me and the pdoc are trying to get the manic symptoms in check. I just try to take a step back from my head which is sometimes easier said than done.

It probably does have more to do with the fact that my tongue can't keep up with my brain than the medication. It was just weird that it just showed up all of a sudden like that.

My son had severe stuttering and other SE from the combo of Abilify, Lihium and Risperdal. He ended up in the hosp for a med wash as he could not even walk. Now he will have problems here and there, but we decrease the Risperdal and increase his Vitamin E which you may want to try. IT has been successful for many.
