I am going to have blood work tomorrow for my lithium levels. I have an appointment Tuesday night to discuss the results and further increase in Lithium. I have spent sisxty hours reasearching bipolar's effects, and types of bipolar. I may be right off the wall but; from what I have read I believe I have have bipolar 1 with mixed state because, I have anger, isolation, hopelessness, fatique, loss of interest in enjoyable activities, Social anxiety, irritability and anxiety that gets out of control that scares people around me. I also have depression and OCD.
Now I have finished babling on, In the opinion of the great folks who use this site what level of Lithium do you think I will be put on. Also my anxiety is out of control. Would my doctor add something to control this condition as well?

My 12 year old needs 1350 am and 900 pm to achieve a steady 1.2. It is an extremly high dose, but this is highly individualized

I think it's whatever keeps your blood Lithium level close to 1. That may be anywhere from 900 mg to 1800 from what I've heard. My son takes 1200 and he's a big lad. He also takes Clozapine, though.

Everyone's body absorbs lithium differently. There are sort of set "therapeutic levels" so doctors try to give you a dose that will bring you up to that therapeutic range. If your body absorbs it well, then you may be safe with just a small dose. Plus there are things that can affect how your body absorbs lithium, such as sodium intake. They get the blood level every so often to make sure you're absorbing in a therapeutic range--if not, they'll increase it or decrease it if the level is too high. It can be tricky, unfortunately.
