I said it b4 and now agan....These friggin' docs DONT CARE!

yesterday i was excited to talk to the psychiatrist finally---during our chat- he informed me that previous 'difficult' patients made him 20min late meetng me. 'i didnt even have time to look at your chart', he says.

so, we went through the preliminaries---3min----which led to the question: What are you here for?

I told him I needed meds---so, he inquired about insurance - which I DONT HAVE!!!!

gave me some samples..and that was it!

I said: Doc--Can you go on moodtracker.com and give me your username..so...u can see how the meds are working?

he says: "Oh I can't use a computer--I'd have to ask my 12yr old about that!

All the while a computer sits in front of his stupid doctor FACE!

Asks...Can't you print it out for me to see?

I said yea, but I lied.

I don't have a printer---i would either have to ask my molesting father to print it for me OR share the info. with some strangers in a library.

I won't----...

I just wanted to talk about how doctors don't give a hoot UNLESS the 'subject' has money to pay----

SOOOOOO...no hope for losers like me.

DR. SMITH-@ Triumph- in Durham, NC--------I bet you he's scanning emails right now--but i'll be angry if i find out---

So, if anyone finds his info. online...send him a dirty note for me hmmmmm.....

Ouch.

I'm sorry your doctor was being so difficult. Gotta love the health care industry. Take it from someone who is both a patient and works on the other side of health care, it can be a pain on both ends.

That being said, you probably seen a therapist or counselor in addition to a psychiatrist. Drugs can help to even out your mood, but they aren't going to fix the problems in your life. I may be biased, but I think therapists tend to be just a little more willing to listen and take time with you than a psychiatrist.

Listen, dr. gives meds they don't usually feel the need to talk about anything but symptoms. I beleive that a therepist is the most important role in the mental health field for a few reasons. The main reason is she/he will keep your dr informed so when tou arwe sitting there discussing meds your doctor already knows whats going on, not from a web page but from you therapist that probably works beside the doctor. Personally I am new to this moods tracker but I am asking my therapist to do this with me because I see her more often and if something insn't right she will contact the doctor and start getting something done before that monthly visit with a dr. Plus my therapist knows me much better than my dr that just tries to give me meds and knows symptoms only. my therapist knows both my symptoms and my moods and what triggers madse me get that mood! Not every dr knows those personal little things that sets us up in our behaviors.

"yesterday i was excited to talk to the psychiatrist finally---during our chat- he informed me that previous 'difficult' patients made him 20min late meetng me. 'i didnt even have time to look at your chart', he says."

First of all, you need to understand that if these patients were being "difficult" (e.g. suicidal) he couldn't have just said 'oh, I'm sorry, we're run out of time. I'll see you next week please try not to kill yourself in the meantime.'

It's not fun to wait for your doctor, one of my previous ones was at least half an hour late every single time. However, when they have a valid excuse it makes me less frustrated. At least you know that if you desperately need your doctor he won't abandon you to go to someone else.

"I told him I needed meds---so, he inquired about insurance - which I DONT HAVE!!!!"

Of course he'll ask if you have insurance, how else would you pay for the meds besides money out of your own pocket? Medication is expensive, he can't just give it to you for free. The most he could do, and did do, was give you free samples.

"I said: Doc--Can you go on moodtracker.com and give me your username..so...u can see how the meds are working?

he says: "Oh I can't use a computer--I'd have to ask my 12yr old about that!

I said yea, but I lied."

It's possible that he only uses his computer for very simple things like accessing email and/or typing documents. If you see him again maybe you can just give him written instructions on how to access this site.

Since he asked you to print your entries it probably means that he's interested in how you're fairing. I understand that you were already quite angry at this point but lying was a petty thing to do.

"I just wanted to talk about how doctors don't give a hoot UNLESS the 'subject' has money to pay----

SOOOOOO...no hope for losers like me."

That's not true. I know some doctors that are very kind, some that offer their services for free despite struggling to pay their own bills just so their patients can see them.

It's unfortunate that you've had a bad experience with a doctor but you shouldn't give up.

I hope you find one that treats you well and that you trust.
