I have been hypomanic for the last few weeks plus some paranoia about people watching me and hidden cameras. All in all it has been quite a good ride. However I am starting to come down now and am worried that I will become depressed as this has always happened following hypomanic/manic episodes. Has anyone got any advice regarding stopping the downward trend at baseline?

I hate to say it, but unless you are on medications, your moods are going to do what they want to do. That's why if you're bipolar, being on a mood stabilizer is so important. It helps regulate your moods so you don't have the wacky oscillations.

Medications for June 2009
04-01-2009 - Present:Zyrtec, 10 mg. Once at night
04-20-2009 - Present:Depakote, 1500 mg. Once Daily at bedtime
05-13-2009 - Present:Ambien, 5 mg. At bedtime

WOOHOO !! Welcome to my world, eh. I keep looking for someone else to nearly admit that they kinda LIKE the manic. I'm going to presume, ki, that you ARE on a regimen of medsand share with you that the reason I came to MoodTracker was to try to predict the swings (little swings) that still seem to occur.. Are they merely cyclic, as I suspect, or is there maybe something else going on that I haven't noticed? Question, when you slide cown below the "base", how long does the depression last and how deep does it go? When I copped to spending a lot more time side on the "high" side of the cycle to my pdoc, she gave me some info on how to tweak my maint med to ease that crash and then put another med in the cocktail to keep the psychic terrain more level. You can see from my chart that tho' I often log "mixed oods" I seldom move out of the mild" variations either way and, similarly, the anxious and and irritabilty tags are pretty stable.

Medications for June 2009
10-09-2007 - Present:Depakote, 1000 mg. 2 x daily
11-09-2008 - Present:Wellbutrin, 150 mg. daily

While it is true that you can't stop the change in moods that comes with bipolar without medications you don't have to let it control you completely.
The fact that you've noticed that you go depressed after a hypomanic time is good.
It means you can work to ease it.
By avoiding situations that normally make you sad (emotion not mood here) or stressed and doing things you enjoy, you can at least, usually, easy the depression.
There is a web sight that I use to pull me up a bit. It's www.Icanhascheezburger.com.
It's cute pictures of cats and other animals with funny captions.

In short... Do things that make you smile even when you start to go down below base line and it could help that depression ease off a bit.

Good luck to you and keep in touch.
