kingskid... I truly know what its like to accept the condition. I was SO blown away when I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It completely took me by surprise. I went to see a psychiatrist about a sleep disorder, and came out with a psych diagnosis. I was floored.

Over the next several weeks and months, I did TONS of research. I read lots of medical journals and looks at many different web sites. I also enlisted a great deal of support. My husband was wonderful. We prayed together about it, and he supports me every way he knows how.

Now, bipolar makes perfect sense to me. I am NOT happy about having a chronic mental health disorder. But, at least I know why certain things happened in my life. And... treatment DOES work. God blessed me with the right Pdoc at the right time who knew precisely how to handle this PhD geek who was sure she "just" had a sleep disorder. (It's amazing how blind we can be to our own issues!!)

I wish you well on your journey. Be positive and being proactive is the most effective way to having good outcomes. And that's what we all want! Good outcomes!

Be well,
Jules

You know, the most important part of discovering I was bipolar is knowing that there's a name for it and I wasn't "just crazy." Know that you're not alone and know that this disorder is fairly common.
Accepting it is the first step to controlling it.
