Does anyone know of a good therapist or support group for bi,polar in the Washington, DC metro area? Thinking I need to get back to the reality of dealing with this. I haven't seen a therapist in so long, just my psychiatrist

I am not from DC so I can't help with specifics, but I can highly, highly, recommend therapists. Escpecially if you get a good one like I am currently blessed with. She was the catalyst for my diagnosis change so I am now getting effective treatment and she is my lifeline while we are getting my meds squared around. She was worth putting aside the distrust casued by three immediate previous less useful therapists.
Working with her is a lot of, well, work. Sometimes I leave her office exhausted. But it is utterly and completely worth it.

I live in Rockville, I work in DC by Judiciary Square. I also have BC/BS, oddly enough.

I had an ex ellent therapist years ago in Texas. She helped me withmy coming out issues as well as my bipolar issues - even before they were named. She dx me as having depresson with psychotic tendencies.

Yes, I know how to look it up and I found a few but have not called yet. A little worried about money. Not all lawyers are rich, some have excessive student loan debt. (me, for instance)

But I'm so bad that I think I need to do it. I scared of losing my job cause I cannot concentrate at all, doctor wants me to get way and go see my mom to see if my meds will kick in cause my atmostmosphere at home is very heavy, or she said she is going to hospitalize me, I'm so scared of loosing my job and being broke, I always managed to keep my financials ok. was never able to sabe money but was never in trouble. But I dont think I was ever this unstable
:(
Good luck finding anyone, if my therapist if any good I will let you know! Take care

You probably do need to get away, if only for a little while. When my dr wanted to hospitalize me fora "few days" last spring, I refused because I worry Ill lose my job if it becomes known that I am having problems from this. But I did take two days off work to get my head together. If you rhome is too "heavy" for that maybe visiting yourmom for a short period fo time would be a good idea. If she is supportive anyway.

Oh, by the way, I'm not saying the hospital is not a good idea too, whatever works for you. A few days at a hospital would allow you to rest and let things go for a few days...while possibly getting more focused on stabilization.

she is supoortive, the whole family has bipolar traces, I was the first one to be diagnosed and after me my mom looked for help and so as my sister, now we all get along much better cause we know in the past we were all very sick that why we fought so much, I have bipolar people both sides of my family, some of them refused treatment and some of them treat themselfs well., some cases are bad, some are mild, but a lot of cases in my family and we have the left overs
aahahaha
My mom is more moderate than me, my sister and me were the worst ones, I started to develop as a child she started on the teen years, so yes, my family is all very suportive cause they understand my crises and thank god my mom is stable now so I can trust her for suport but the problem is that she lives miles away in Brazil :(
