I have had bi polar for most of my life. I have went through a lot of things in my life, and I am only 33. Lately I have been really depressed and suicidal. I have many episodes of rage and feeling as if I am going insane. I am also always angry and irratible. I have been out of work for some time and been having money problems, which I think is bringing on more of my depression. I am currently on Lamictal and Zoloft. I am not so sure if the Zoloft is doing much good. Has anyone ever had a negative effect on Zoloft? If anybody has some feedback, it would be greatley appreciated

I was on Zoloft for awhile a couple of years ago and it actually increased my suicidal thoughts and attempts! Needless to say I am no longer on that medication. I am having trouble finding any that work! I have been taking medication for about 7 years now with no luck as to the perfect combination yet, so I cant really recommend anything else for you.

I've always felt worse on antidepressants--Wellbutrin, Prozac, Lexapro, Effexor--but part of that could be my age. People under 25 have the potential to react pretty poorly to a/d's--hence the black box warnings. Not everyone will react the same to every drug, or even to every drug in a certain class (i.e. SSRI's) so just make sure you're very honest with your pdoc about how it's affecting you so they can make any necessary adjustments.
