Lately I've been running low on energy. And when you don't have any energy it's really hard to be motivated. Like going to the gym for instance. Or being able to do a good job at work because I have the energy to concentrate.

Does anyone know any good remedies for low energy? I take a multi vitamin, but I don't think it helps much. I've been taking it for 2 months now and see no improvement.

Are there any foods or supplements that anyone has found to be beneficial?

Medications for November 2010
08-14-2010 - Present:Zyprexa, 15 mg. Once per day
09-24-2010 - Present:Wellbutrin, 150 mg. Once per day

Hi Tiger
A multivitamin wont give you energy unless you were low in Vitamins in the first place. Energy rich foods that are low GI such as dense seedy bread and the like will help. THis includes things like apple juice and pinapple juice which I find useful. So will good lean protein
Sounds like you are a bit depressed though and that is likely to be the cause of the low energy and lack of motivation. Ironically exercise everyday will help adn will give yuo more energy . For me, if Im depressed I try to remember that I will never actually feel like exercise until im doing it . I just walk everymorning no mater how crap Im feeling and even if its just around the block

Fruits are generally good for boosting energy. I also find that a good salad will do wonders for energy level.

Avoid eating turkey while you feel like this, or other foods containing tryptophan, as that will make you sluggish. In spite of this, tryptophan can also in the long term boost energy, as it is a 5HT antagonist, which will cause your brain to compensate by producing more serotonin.

Also, in my experience eating smaller amounts more often rather than meals boosts my energy level when exercising.

I also have heard rumours that the sun contains a lot of energy. Going outside during daytime helps (I need to follow my own advice.).

I agree with the many small meals. also make sure that if snacking, always include a little protein with carbs, to keep from getting the sugar spikes. Fruits and veggies always mak good snacks. I usually add a few almonds when eating them.

I have Greens +Energy that I use sometimes, which is a nutrient drink mix with natural caffeine. I also take iron supplements (but I'm anemic so need them).

Another thing, which I actually was told in class, is that motivation does not precede action. So try and do something tiny to get started and see if that helps. Maybe even making foods that require more effort will be just enough
