Hi, I first started exercising by taking a walk each day about a few months ago. I recently started running every other day per week along with pushups and situps. The important thing to remember is not to over due exercise and build yourself up to it slowly. I have found that when I overdue exercise my depression episodes are triggerd. Exercise on a routine and having proper rest in between is critical. When I do this it helps me manage my Bipolar rapid cycling disorder. I hope this helps. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.

i love your kermit the frog icon. I think I will do just 1 zumba, my son and i were just discussing the need to rest in between exercise periods to recover even if you aren't sore.

Yes,

I tend to overdo it when I'm simply trying to get back into the routine of exercising. I agree that I need to slowly work my way back up to it. I started an AD recently BUT I still think I'm mildly depressed because its like I have to force myself to do anything.

I finally went to the gym today for the first time in over 2wks. I definitely didn't overdo it I'm trying to get some balance & consistency in my life.

Greglammon I love the kermit the frog logo. And thanks for the sound advice. I am recently coming to terms with what you are saying, 1 workout a day, for an hour is sufficient. The rest, certainly matters as much especially with this disease. Avoiding extremes is wise. Too much exercise can result in paying up with depression, I know, cause it catches up to you and you become exhausted.
And that in turn messes with how you feel.
