My doctor just switched me from Cymbalta to Lexapro and Pristiq. I started having bad heart palpitations along with coughing shortly after starting Pristiq. It was on the weekend (of course) so I couldn't call the doctor about it. I called the pharmicist, who did say Pristiq could be causing the palps and to talk to my doctor ASAP. Found out my doctor is not in on Mondays, so I won't be able to talk to him until tomorrow. I did not take the Pristiq today (just couldn't handle the palps anymore and felt one day of skipping it would not hurt). But not sure if I will experience withdrawals if I skip it again tomorrow. Has anyone experienced med withdrawals after being on medication for just one week at the lowest dosage?

I hate that crap. I used to be on a lot of anti depressants years ago and remember having to make choices such as yours on my own due to reasons such as yours. the way i see it it is my body, therefore my feelings...I am starting my search again for the anti depressant that will work because of it getting bad again, like i said, years after not being on anything. Now my first is Mirtazipan and was warned it has a side effect of sleepiness. I don't know if it is just me or what but I think i am going to stop just after 2 days. I DO NOT like how it has been making me feel, luckily i think i can get a hold of the doc tomorrow. In your case I have not heard of the withdrawels associated with Pristiq or Cymbalta but I have been on Lexapro for years and that is one medication I was on years ago and stopped no problem. Good Luck . Keep rockin and rollin. THEY SAY....itll get better.... :)

Thanks, coyvhester! It was the Pristiq that was causing the palpitations, and the doctor took me off of it. No more palpitations! Still on Lexapro, which does not seem to have many bad side effects.
