There are various stages in Ayurvedic treatment for back pain and when a patient is consulting a doctor the first step to identify the reason causing this pain. Various factors lead to back pain - retaining a poor posture when sitting, standing or sleeping, overweight and hence strain on the lower back increases and the list goes on. As per Ayurveda, bones and muscles should be strong and this can be achieved with physical activity. Even if you have pain and is taking rest for some time it is always best if you start physical activity as soon as the pain goes or else the recovery time will also get longer. Most of the times the patient is advised to control diet and eat only the prescribed foods when under treatment and the accumulated wastes are also cleansed prior to treatment. This food restriction and selection of foods will always be beneficial to the body as those foods that are difficult to digest will lead to diseases as toxins from partially digested foods and gas formed within the system are all detrimental to the health. Likewise, overweight people are advised to control their weight and do more of physical exercises as weight of the body strains the back especially if the person has to stand for longer periods of time. After analyzing the reason for the pain the patient is given custom tailored treatment in Ayurveda as the reason for back pain for one person may differ for another and the patient is also advised to keep away from stressful circumstances.
